2 pice gas tank

whats up i took my gas tank apart cas the gasket has went bad an in the proses snaped the heads off all the screws whats the best way to get tehm out an what are u guy using to get the old parts of studs out

Its not too much fun getting the broken bolts out of the holes. Try an easy-out first, if that doesnt work you'll have to just try and drill them out. Its very easy for the drill bit to wander off the steel screw and into the soft aluminum.

On the one I did, I had to retap a couple of the holes to suit 10-32 screws instead of the 8-32's that were in there.

not to argue, but i highly suggest not to use an easy out, those things really need to be banned from garages... I'm guessing there might be some of the bolt left... if so, heat the surrounding metal of the tank (I'm guessing this is an older round hood with an aluminum tank) the aluminum will expand and hopefully make the bolts easier to remove with a vise grips... give it a try.

gave up on getting the bolts out fro now lol decided to use the tank i got for 20 bucks at the show all the bolts came out now have to fix the spots where the hood bolts on

an will use 2 part norten epoxy to hold them in an fill the voids should work i hope
