T-Mo-(Moderator) 4,506 #1 Posted May 28, 2008 My brother pick up this JD JS63C mower off freecycle. It looks nice, has the 6.75hp Briggs Intek, 3 speed self-propelled drive, bagger and it has the front caster wheels. It starts but won't stay running. If you hit the primer button a few times it will start and stay running only for a few seconds. I guess I need to pull the carb off of it and give it a good cleaning. But, still, why would someone let a nice mower like this go. The po said her husband bought a riding mower and so they didn't need this.
perry 82 #2 Posted May 28, 2008 cant pass that up for free . while checking the carb out make sure the primer button does'nt have a small hole or tear in it.
T-Mo-(Moderator) 4,506 #3 Posted May 28, 2008 Perry, I will check that, but I think the primer bulb is working. I think hitting the primer button fills up the carb and it will run until that supply of fuel is used up. But the carb is not picking up fuel from the tank. The line is clear so that leaves, in my unskilled thinking, a dirty carb.
T-Mo-(Moderator) 4,506 #4 Posted June 9, 2008 Got it running - cleaned the carb real good and new intake gasket.
