Martin 2,131 #1 Posted May 20, 2011 my wife got this for me today, i know its not wheel horse (that would make it perfect ) but i think she did really good. she had suggested getting a cart for gardening, to pull with one of the horses and i was waiting for something to come along. somebody sort of painted it red but underneath its still a weathered orange. not sure whether to make it look nice and throw some decals on it or just leave it as is.... anyone have a rough idea how old it is? im guessing mid 60s to mid 70s, but not real sure. no tag etc that i can find.
Kelly 1,029 #2 Posted May 20, 2011 I have one like that, yours I would guess early to mid 60's by the decal.
Martin 2,131 #3 Posted May 21, 2011 thanks for that info kelly. i did a little more research and early 60s is what im thinking too. all the others i looked at have a different style decal with no oval. most of them also had a bent drawbar whereas the drawbar is straight and longer on this one. i think its a neat little cart. i like the fact that you can dump it upside down. it could be used as is with a little work, but i think Jeanine did good for $30. Martin 2,131 #4 Posted July 26, 2012 work has come to a stop this week on the c125, but that doesnt mean i havent been busy. jeanine wanted this cart redone so it looked better and she could tow it behind her 1054 at shows or whatever. so the last few days ive been trying to beat this thing into shape and get it painted at work. i got the frame blasted and painted tuesday, the box straightened up and painted yesterday, and did the wheels today. couldnt find a matching pair of 4.80-8 tires so had to purchase 2 new ones. got the wheels on this afternoon... jeanine knew i was working on it, it got dismantled some weeks ago, but then the c125 came along, and then the c160 and all of a sudden the cart was getting pushed out the way to give me room to work on the tractors. she never said anything but i could tell she was worried it might not get done in time for kellys show........... as of right now she doesnt know anything more than the dismantling has been done, im gonna surprise her when she gets home......
smoreau 658 #5 Posted July 27, 2012 Very nice Martin! I would like ro build a small cart for the back of Gabbys tractor and I found one that was perfect! but it was not for sale But he will let me barrow it to make one like it. I would like to incorporate the simplicity design for the dump, but with fenders covering a set of lawn ranger front tires on it.
VinsRJ 721 #6 Posted July 27, 2012 That cart is looking right on! I'm sure she'll love it.
perry 82 #7 Posted July 27, 2012 yes that appears to be a early version cart . they started that cart design in the 1950's . looking at the brochures, the straight shaft looks to have come with the walkers and the bent tongue with the riders. not positive if that info is 100% accurate. 1957 walker manual # 990201 - http://bsintek.basco...rE3Cvh5kbp796Dq 1964 cart manual # 990085 http://bsintek.basco...rE3Cvh5kbp796Dq COMBINATION SULKY, DUMP CART (Mfr. Martin 2,131 #8 Posted July 27, 2012 Perry, thanks for the info. Those links cleared up a lot of head scratching for me. I see this one came with a footrest, looks like some of the other pieces would have made it a sulky cart in the beginning. I would never had known they were like that. all that's on it now is all I have, would be nice to out fit it with a seat one day..... It was just picked up cheap and I wanted to paint it up like the wh tractors so we could pull it around. Really would like a wh cart though...... Martin 2,131 #9 Posted July 27, 2012 had to mess around with the rear hitch to get it to sit right, i will probably end up fabbing up a hitch at the right height for it after kellys show..... i showed jeanine the pics in the manuals that perry posted and she wants a sulky for it too, so i think i will be making something similar to that in the near future. the frame is setup for it and the holes are there, so i just need to make up the seat frame, or find one....... heres how it looks with the cart on...... well i think jeanines happy what do you think?......... man, i can still hear that noise in that engine....... :angry-cussingblack:
