Well, I like it...it looks nice and straight and it looks like it was taken care of. Those short frame, square hoods are great horses. :hide:

Got her cleaned up, do any of you guys have a picture or directions of how the governor is supposed to be hooked up and set. My throttle cable was hooked directly to the carb, thought that it may bliw up running it that way.

Heres some pictures.

Where would the ashtray be located ? ,lol, you never said anything about how you got it started?

I picked up a 856 tractor 3 days ago just  a lot more neglected in Southeast Indiana, for $125 8hp kohler,it was really cold out when I picked it up 12 degrees,I noticed when we loaded tractor wheels would not turn, figured trans was froze or locked up some how, removed filler plug and stuck in a screwdriver and realized it was completely full of ice, oh No!,I had hell removing drain plug, hex got stripped out real easy, managed to remove with small antique pipe wrench, boxed rear or tractor with cardboard and plugged in a heater, 5 hrs later it was all melted out of trans, installed old plug for now and filled with kerosene and has been soaking for 2 days now, its 20 degrees out now, planning on draining next few days when it gets a little warmer,I think trans will be ok, hopefully ,it is a shame some people leave their horses out in the rain for to long.I believe if you take care of your horses they will take care of you! I plan on tinkering with this beaten down horse and bringing her back strong.

Very nice tractor! I have an 856 and I love it! actually going to pick up the motor from the machine shop today. Those 8hp short frames are fun quick turning tractors! :text-coolphotos:
