Hi, Those are nice tractors. Dont be too hard on yourself, if you get to kicking yourself too much over selling the 753 you will just have to look for another one or two or....... :wh:

thanks for the warm welcome guys , i hope to get a lot from this site. as i mentioned , i have a 1969 Commando that i bought last year to mow my lawn. it has a great running Tecumseh V70 that performed great. paint is all original , except the wheels which i have just painted ivory and installed new tires. seat is original too

the `68 Lawn Ranger has a very crappy H60 that i hope will make the mowing season before blowing. i think i will be looking for a new engine soon

here is the Commando:

AMC RULES

:WRS: 305. Nice looking Commando, did you replace the seat? Wondering if it's original to the tractor? :hide:

as far as i know , the seat is original. the guy i bought it from said it was his grandfather's and that he bought it new. the seat has the Wheel Horse logo embossed in the backrest. no rips or cracks

i actually bought it because i had no mower at all, i had not mowed my own lawn in at least 20 years. my neighbor was retired and had a couple big green ones with a yellow seat and would just mow it for something to do. i'd buy him a couple cans of gas each season and he would be happy. he even blew my snow in the winter! he would come over and use my welder or lathe or press etc sometimes to maintain his equipment. it was a great situation. but..he got up in years , and moved to an assisted living situation

Pretty sure the seat is not correct for that model, that also would not have had the springs either, but that seat is a late 60's early 70's one and very hard to find in nice shape.
