grnlark 487 #1 Posted May 4, 2011 Sometimes these things just fall in my lap and I have no self control whatsoever to just walk away. So in the past week I grabbed a super nice 1050 and an early Ride-a-Matic. The 1050 is a one owner machine, with very little use. It was part of an estate liquidation and the story goes that that guy was having the carb rebuilt by a mower repair place that went out of business. He never got the carb back and the tractor has been sitting for close to 25 years. The hood and fender pan show some very mild orange rusting as a result of sitting, but there's no "rot" or prickly rusting. The rims, tires, underneath, shift knobs etc. are all in amazing shape. It's super dirty, but with a good detailing should look great. I also was able to locate a carb which should be now on its way. Along with the tractor, is a super solid 48" deck and a NOS snow cab. The roof and one side panel got chewed by mice, but the doors were still in the Bolens boxes. I'm not quite sure what the plans are for it. I'll have to wait and see how it runs. The Ride-a-Matic just got here today from Ohio. Its an original machine with factory Bolens sickle bar. Supposedly it "runs" but only on choke. It has the original Kohler K161. I haven't had a chance to fiddle with it or clean it either. I have no idea on years etc. for either and am hoping I can get some info on one of the Bolens forums, but if anyone knows, please feel free to chime in. 1050: (Model 1 02) (serial 40197) Ride-a-Matic: (type 220 01) (serial 35570)

trettig 0 #5 Posted May 4, 2011 Great job. Looks like a nice addition to your museum. I second - what are you bringing to the Somers Ct. show? My vote would be the Gemco and the Speedex.

I'm planning to go to Zagray this weekend and Somers next. I really have no idea what I'm going to bring to either. I think I might bring the Cub and/or the Bready and maybe an RJ... We'll see. You need to just remove that 50 Speedex D4 from your line up though
