Kelly 1,029 #2 Posted April 24, 2011 there you go, make sure you use the right ign. switch on that 12hp I see it has electronic ign. it must be a late 60's early 70's engine.
ricksrj58 273 #3 Posted April 24, 2011 the wiring harness and ign.switch came with the engine

Coadster32 793 #5 Posted April 25, 2011 What other modifacations, alterations did you need to do to get that 8hp Kohler on the tractor. My nephew might be doing the same on a 606 sometime later this year.
ricksrj58 273 #6 Posted April 25, 2011 no major mods,i mounted the battery under the seat and a gas tank on the dash tower .the motor bolted right on and i used a L bracket for the electrical.the tractor did not come with a belt guard so i do not know if the origanal one would work or not. Coadster32 793 #7 Posted April 25, 2011 Thanks for the heads up on it. BTW-nice install.
ricksrj58 273 #8 Posted April 26, 2011 here is the completed tractor,i just need a belt guard to be 100%
Kelly 1,029 #9 Posted April 26, 2011 If it was a starter gen engine the batt. would fit, the belt guard from a tucky will NOT fit a Kohler with out mods, so look for a short frame tractor belt guard from a Kohler it will bolt on, even one from a round hood kohler powered will fit, and the kohler powered tractors the gas tank goes on the dash tower, with a single band holding it in place.
