IH Restoration Series in Quarts?

Recommended Posts

squonk

Can't find IH red in quarts. Went to Tractor Supply where I work. Gals. and spray only. Waited 3 months for the new store where I live to open. Surley they would be fully stocked. Gals. and spray only. Looked online. Gals. and spray only. Has anyone ever seen it in qts.? I'm painting a little dump cart and a couple of wheel weights. In don't want a gallon so half of it sits on a shelf and goes to hell.

You could try an auto parts store like Napa or Carquest. I can usually get quarts there. They are probably a little more expensive, and it may end up being DuPont or something other than Valspar. My .00002 cents

Now that I live close by a Tractor Supply, I have been there on a weekly basis. The one near me doesn't carry restoration series but they said they can order it for me when I need it. I was pleasantly surprised that Valspar is so reasonable on their red paint. If you buy any red automotive paint the price is sky high. Anything with red pigment is thru the roof, or at least it used to be a be at the paint stores the shop I worked at dealt with.

With all the :D restoration going on we were probably buying too many quarts and the powers that be probably decided to eliminate them so we would have to buy gallons and spend more money. I realize that 4 qts. would cost more than the gallon but I hate leaving a partial gal. can around and then when you need it it's junk. :wh:

Here is how you prevent that. There is a product called Bloxygen. It is an aerosol spray of pure Argon gas. When you are finished with the paint, put the lid on loosely, then stick the tube from the aerosol into the can and spray the gas. Close the lid. Now your paint will be good when you open it again. The Argon blocks the oxygen from the surface of the paint preventing skinning over or drying.

Here is the link to the website.

BLOXYGEN

I have used this with expensive furniture finishes. It works on most every type of finish but lacquers and water-borne. One $10.00 can will give you about 35 uses in a gallon of paint.

i agree with bob,and if you dont have that you can slowly pour thinners on the top of the paint and this will work for a year or so

:D Not meaning to change the subject but every time I see that squirrel, it reminds me of years ago when I use to go squirrel hunting. :wh::thumbs: Sorry about that!!

My local TSC no longer carries the restoration series in qt. either. Said they didn't sell enough qt. and went to gal. only. Spray cans looked a little low too.

You could still order it though. I asked at mine and they said all stores will special order anything you want, so long as they carry the product line. Since they sell the resto gallons, they can order the quarts.

whynot pick up some new empty quart cans at the paint store and repackage a gallon into smaller containers? After the initial purchase just clean the cans and reuse them.
