soofoodude 6 #1 Posted April 20, 2011 First off - greetings and thanks to all of the helpful posters. What a great site. I am replacing the axle seals on my 520H. The axle shaft has no vertical movement but it does have movement in and out of the transmission about an 1/8". It must be a solid shaft as the other side moves along with it. I blew up a gear many years ago when I had a loader on it. It was repaired by a small engine shop but was wondering if this movement is normal. Thanks for your input. stevasaurus 22,863 #2 Posted April 20, 2011 The movement that you stated is normal. Most of us would hope for just that much. Actually, the play you have in and out is the slack between the "E" clip and the gear in the differential. It is not a solid axle through the differential. You are fine.

SAM58 30 #5 Posted April 24, 2011 Just put a new hub on my 1992 520H and mine had the same thing, I have seen this in the Hydros & 8 speeds... Now if it moves up & down then you have a problem.
