dmoore 883 #1 Posted April 18, 2011 Today I had my seat and rear fender off on my 78 C-101 8-speed & noticed something I hadn't before or could not remember from when I restored her back in 96....there is a set screw & lock nut on the trans right in front of the shifter.....is this what holds the shifter in place? Irv 115 #2 Posted April 18, 2011 Yes, it is a dog-point screw and the point goes into a hole in the shifter ball (same hole the roll pin is in to hold the ball on the shifter.

daveoman1966 3,762 #4 Posted April 18, 2011 Here is the Dog-point screw. Tighten it to where the shift lever is tight in the socket, then back off the screw 1/2 turn. Next, tighten the jam nut to lock the dog-point screw in place. Attached Image
