zieg72 209 #1 Posted April 13, 2011 Can anyone tell me if a AC filter PF13 fit on the back of my 520H?
Martin 2,133 #2 Posted April 24, 2011 not sure but heres something to look out for. i changed the filter on the 875's hydro today and noticed that an ac filter was on it. it had paint all over it so couldnt see what part # it was. but heres where the difference was in the ac that was on it and the replacement cross reference napa filter. the ac was leaking and there was a bunch of oil and mess on the side of the hydro. the ac filter body was tight up against the side of the hydro and the filter wasnt sealing well enough at the rubber seal ring. the napa has this step and kept the body off the side better helping the rubber seal to compress like it should. not sure what a genuine filter looks like though. heres a pic... Kelly 1,029 #3 Posted April 24, 2011 Save your trans spend the $10 on a real Toro trans filter, they are built with out a internal by pass, regular filters all have by pass inside them that is something you don't want on a hydro trans. what is $10 every few years, and have piece of mind knowing you have the right filter. Martin 2,133 #4 Posted April 24, 2011 kelly, you know you do make a good point. i didnt realise that the napa has a bypass valve (which it does.... 8-11 psi from the specs on their site) it was a weekend thing for me, wanted to get the old fluid out and get it running. the price is not really a concern since the napa isnt really that cheap anyway. im gonna change again next week since the 875 sat a while before i got it. will make a visit to the toro dealer next week and swap it out. Horse-Drawn 1 #5 Posted April 24, 2011 Excellent point about the bypass on auto filters! An auto filter on almost any hydro will run in full bypass from the point you turn it on. Not only do hydro filters not have one, they also filter finer particulate than an engine filter. Dirt that an engine can live with for years will kill a pump or motor on a hydro setup very quickly. After working on both systems for 20+ years & seeing the damage incorrect filters can cause, it's definitely worth the extra money on the right filter. LuckyJohn 0 #7 Posted April 25, 2011 I have been reading this post because I am also wanting to change the fluid and filter in my 416H, but were can I get a filter if there is no Toro dealer close by? Our local Napa dealer is more like a farm and fleet store could they cross ref. the numbers and find a hydraulic filter that will work that won't run in full by pass. How much fluid does the rear end hold?

Brrly1 1,146 #9 Posted April 25, 2011 Carl, I definitely agree with Kelly. Spend the extra dollars and get the correct filter. If I remember I think you have been here long enough to remember Duke's post about the trans filters where he had cut into several different filters to show us exactly what was inside of them. We can't forget that Dukester is the official Amsoil specialist in our fine little group here. Spend the money. Good Luck :wh:

Guest #11 Posted May 13, 2011 Right about the NAPA 1410/Wix. Spec's say it's for hydraulic's and has no bypass and 21 micron filtration: http://www.napafilters.com/filterlookup/Pa...l.asp?Part=1410 http://www.fleetfilter.com/filter/wix-oil-filters/51410.html Plus it hasn't been sitting on the shelf for 20 years. How old are these NOS filters getting? I know it's not yogurt, but is degradation a point to consider? I have been reading this post because I am also wanting to change the fluid and filter in my 416H, but were can I get a filter if there is no Toro dealer close by? LFDRET 21 #13 Posted July 12, 2011 (L&J fluid power 269 623-4150) who works on the Sunstand transmissions. I just called them to get his opinion. On the sunstand trans the filter works on the suction side (in other low presure side) so the bypass would not work anyway. He said they use a B 163 Baldwin filter or you could use any cross reference filter. I called NAPA, the cross reference is NAPA-1307 or Fram PH-2809. As for the Eaton Trans. The filter works on the pressure side. And that too should be used with a bypass filter. Bill
