It's definitely going to be expensive this year. The bad part is, it's going to come out of the goodie budget so this means the trailer isn't going to be full on the way home. I guess I'll be saving gas on the way back.

If anyone wants to lighten their load and have a little gas money for the trip home, they can leave a nice little Lawn Ranger with me. I am still in the market.

Odds are I won't be going this year. We are driving across the country pulling our camper and spending 6 weeks in Montana, Yellowstone, Glacier etc. The whole trip will probably be almost 6000 miles by the time we get back.

6000 miles pulling a camper-OUCH!! that's going to take a bite out of your spending cash. so lets see 6000miles at 10 miles to the gallon is 600 gallons of fuel. then each gallon is at $4.00 , that = $2400.00 Wow looks like a lot of money to me. Just my opinion and I hope you really have a great time on your vacation! I now that I think I will be camping in the back yard this year!

I was hoping to make it to the big show this year but found out a friend was going next year so we'll shoot for then. As for the fuel prices until our so called leader stops pushing for green power so hard and holding up the oil rigs from drilling we americans are plainly screwed on fuel prices...

Gene...I hate to say this...and I don't want to get political........but it is the speculators on wall street driving up the price...there is no problem with supply.

In fact, about 14 contracts for drilling in the gulf have been approved in the last 2 months

The prices have already caused my family to cancel plans. So It looks like the show is off the list for sure. I don't see the price coming down anytime soon.

Gene,

I only live 35 miles away. 3 or 4 less sausage, egg, and cheese sandwiches from the concession stand, and I can buy enough gas to get home. :wh:

Regular is $3.99 and Diesel is $4.25 around here. The only good thing I got my pickup to get 21MPG highway and 14.5 towing which is pretty decent.

It may seem like a lot of money but when you figure it is almost $1000 per person for an airline ticket and there are 4 of us going, that's $4000 not including a rental car and lodging which I don't need. I have friends who drop $6000 for a week at Disney. We're going for six weeks and it won't cost me even close to that!

It's all in how you look at it. On paper, from an accounting viewpoint, it's just dollars moving from one location to another. From the practical viewpoint, it's dollars that could be spent on other necessities.

Some Wheel Horse collectors plan their summer and vacations around shows. Others don't. My wife wouldn't attend one day at the show much less make it our vacation. So in my case, being close to the show is not a problem for me. Transportation will only cost about $50.00 at $5.00/gal for gas.

On the other hand, having taken many vacations to Disney World, I know what Fireman is saying. The last family trip, which included airfare, hotels, food, and Disney admission for 6 adults and 3 children, cost well over $7000 for 7 days. Don't get me wrong, I still think that is a LOT of money, but I was overruled.

By comparison, Fireman will have a much longer trip, see more places, do more things, and on a daily basis, it will cost him a lot less.

Bob, it's like you just stated, the prices are already to high to enjoy a good time, plus food, lodging and if we found something we just couldn't live without that would be kind of pricey. Even if we split the gas, the lodging etc;. Anyways there is a show right near here at Wauseon, Ohio. It's a big steam show and we have already been invited to show there. Who knows between the people and the tractors we have here we could have 50 or more tractors. The group here has been to the show twice an who knows maybe next year especially if the prices were lower. I'll keep my fingers crossed Here's hoping that everyone who gets to go has a Great time. I'll send my money with Stevasaurus for the raffle. That way he can drag a tractor home for me.

:wh:

I only edit for screw ups in spelling (which sometimes seem to happen often)

I know the show is right around the corner but I can't plan that far ahead. Fuel cost will be considered highly up on the list. So as for now I can't say yes or no.

Just have to budget to make it to the show. I look at it as my vacation for the year and hope I sell at tractor to cover part of the fuel expense. Its only about one tank of diesel to get down there for me. :wh:

Ya know John, that is not a bad idea. For no charge, if I get there, I will buy tickets for all that can't go if they send me the $5.00...tickets to be made out in their name....straight up serious. I will haul the tractor back toward my house and drop it any where that is on the way close.

I hear that last years winner pulls this years ticket...so I don't think it is right if I pull my own name...conflict of interest. :wh: not to mention the ration of dodo that I would receive from all of you guys. :D
