shootinok 15 #1 Posted April 7, 2011 Finally got the parts in (gaskets etc) for the Hydro that I took apart a couple weeks ago. I will try to start putting it back together this weekend. Question: Does anyone use Lucas products to supplement the oil or just stick with good 10W-30 motor oil?
smoreau 658 #2 Posted April 8, 2011 I use dextron auto trans fluid in my sundstrand and eaton hydros and 15w40 in my hydrogear pump on my mini ambulance. That was what was in them when I got them and what my local dealer told me to put in them. AH I see in the that 72 and older used dextron and the newer ones use motor oil. when I changed my 85 417A it had dextron in it. so that's what I put back in. should I put motor oil in it? I rebuilt my 875 and haven't put in any oil in it yet, what should that be , motor oil or dextron?
daveoman1966 3,762 #3 Posted April 8, 2011 If you are working on the Sundstrand piston-to-piston style hydro unit, be sure to orient the locating pin in this position. Otherwise, it will not function. This is a pic from my C-160 that I overhauled and it works great....after I got that pin aligned correctly.
