When i was a kid our neighbour had one of these Ford Model A tractors, and the kids living there thought it would out pull our Gibson, 12 horse power twin cylinder Wisconsin engine on loaded rear tires coupled to a 4 speed trans-axle.

 

Which tractor do you think won the pull.

The Gibson won, lower geared those loaded AG tires had better traction, the Fords weight was over the front axle and he had too much power with no low rpm torque. They had the narrow automotive tires.

 

In the Wheelhorse / Cub debate the tractors were better matched but my money would have been on the one equipped with a hydro.
