wheel horse man 56 #1 Posted April 1, 2011 B80 8speed 8 pinion trans VS cub cadet 3speed 12hp a kid bet me that his cub would out pull mine so i said lets hook up to each other who would have a chance do i need to add weight
Jim_M 178 #2 Posted April 1, 2011 There's way too many variables for that to be a true test. Can you hook each of them to a heavy object one at a time? That will tell you more.
farmer 1,075 #3 Posted April 1, 2011 Wheel Horse Man, A lot depends on how fat the kid on the Cub is.
Kelly 1,029 #4 Posted April 1, 2011 Do it like Jim said that would be more of a test, add weight till one can't pull it.

Jim_M 178 #8 Posted April 1, 2011 They need to weigh the same (with the driver) for it to be fair.

The Toolman 22 #16 Posted April 3, 2011 Don't be so quick to blow the deere off. It outweighs you quite a bit, 14 hp, an has the hydro that will put full power at a real slow speed. I know, I had one years ago. They weigh around 750 lbs, an your B-80 probably weighs about what my c-101 does 590 lbs. These figures come from tractor data. These horses are great, an I love mine. But they are not the end of the rainbow..... http://www.tractordata.com/lawn-tractors/t...n-tractors.html
Kelly 1,029 #17 Posted April 3, 2011 I agree, WH is a nice machine simple to work on, but I own a few JD's cubs, simplicitys, ect... and the WH is probably the lightest machine of them all, my 316 JD was a beast of a machine, with a onan 16hp and the hydro was unstopable. Don't get me wrong I collect WH's not other brands but don't run them in the ground, they are all capable machines, why do you think m ore pulling tractors are built from cubs?
hm12460 53 #18 Posted April 3, 2011 A B-80 is a very good, capable machine and an excellent value for the money. Having one myself and several John Deere 140's over the years, I don't think for a minute it will out pull a 140.
chesbaycruiser 82 #19 Posted April 4, 2011 Wheel Horse Man, In challenges like this, as in business, better to "Under Promise & Over Deliver", than the other way around! Good luck in your pull...hope you kick butt and take names! --- hm12460...looking at your signature....wasn't G.H.W. Bush serving on the San Jacinto when he was shot down? Ken B 3,164 #20 Posted April 4, 2011 If you hook up to him in a heads up match I'll tell it like it is, yer gonna get yer ass handed to you.
mavfreak 11 #21 Posted April 4, 2011 I agree with others here don't get to cocky your out classed in this...but if you can get traction and pull before he does you may have a chance but its a slim chance. weight and traction are the key here
MaineDad 85 #22 Posted April 4, 2011 Take the snow plow off. You don't want any weight hanging on the front!
farmer 1,075 #23 Posted April 4, 2011 A couple of things nobodys mentioned, Tyre pressure...as low as you dare go. Don't hunch over the wheel, lean back in the seat. If you do get your take it like a man. Oh to be young.. :D
Raider12 13 #24 Posted April 4, 2011 I will agree that there a lot of vairables that will play out here. I to think the green machine out weights you, but! If he has turf tires and you have lug tires (I hope) you will stand a much better chance not to mention a set of wheel weights to boot! These are a blast to do. Go get'em
T-Mo-(Moderator) 4,496 #25 Posted April 5, 2011 In the long run, it's childish, it won't prove anything (too many variables), and you could end up breaking something. It would be better to spend your time more constructively....just my opinion.
