It was love at first sight...

I knew the minute I walked into the guys outbuilding (from 10 feet away) that there was no way I was leaving without this in my trailer. It's a 1950 M14 lever steer Speedex. This thing is tiny. It's actually a touch sorter than my RJ. It has an unoriginal Clinton 800 on it, but the machine itself is in phenominal shape. When I saw it, I knew I had to add it to my oddball collection. I haven't had a chance to touch it since dragging it home this morning, but hope to give it a well deserved bath sometime tomorrow.

I TOOK ONE OF THEM ON TRADE FOR A RJ-35 BACK IN THE LATE 50'S. IT MAY BE THE SAME ONE ? IT WAS IN GREENWICH, CT. THE RJ-35 HE GOT WAS A LOT MORE POWERFUL AND LARGER. HE WAS VERY HAPPY WITH THE RJ. RUSS

I went to pick this up with my brother yesterday.... IMO its in great shape and if he was thinking about it, it would be a very easy resto. We didn't try to get the Clinton started but its all there, has good compression and should fire right up.

There are wheel wieghts on the front and the rears may be liquid filled. Either way its a sharp machine!

As the case everytime we good for a oddball I feel  ..... another good one ends up with him.

Wow, Very cool. Looks a great find. Matt I am convinced you have a real talent at locating tractors. How do you do it. RSS Feed? mind reading, instinct, hard work, extrasensory perception (ESP), KFC?

After closer inspection and comparison to others on Speedex sites, I think it's a 1950 D4. Here are a few pics of the D4 - front wheel weights and all. And another observation - looks like the crusty one is sporting a Clinton...

quick question, I see alot of old tractors on here and I never see any attactments for them? Are those hard to find such as mower decks, plows. Did they come with things like that?

Thats a neat tractor, it reminds me of the Wards Power Trac rider that I snagged in AZ.

In some aspects, the early Speedexs were ahead of their time. Unfortunately they stayed there while most of the others moved on.

Definitely a nice piece. :D Got me thinking about the '41 model B that's still sitting in my uncle's backyard. :wh:
