mavfreak 11 #4 Posted March 27, 2011 Not real sure but sounds like it could be a bent fork.

mavfreak 11 #6 Posted March 27, 2011 there is some problems with shifting forks but if that is the problem it is fixable. I have seen were they can be bent or worn. There is others here who have alot more experience than I. I'm sure they'll be chiming in on this soon. But I feel thats is were you'll be going
dgjks6 6 #7 Posted March 27, 2011 Somethimes this happens when the gears are not aligned. You should never need to force it. I would first check the fluid, then make sure the clutch is working properly. I would check to see if its the same in first and reverse. If it is having a hard time between gears, release the clutch and depress it again and try the gears. If that is still the case I would consider opening the transmission. stevasaurus 22,863 #8 Posted March 27, 2011 It is possible your shifter is not right...before you drop the trans, pull the shifter out and inspect the end and the pivot. When you put it back in...snug up the set screw, then back off about 1/2 turn and tighten the lock nut. If it is in the trans, make sure you pull the shifter back out before you try to separate the trans halves. Like was stated...could be a bent fork. Could also be a bad or worn detente ball. A 1/4" ball bearing that keeps the shifter in place after you shift gears. read this thread about adjusting the shifter... http://www.wheelhorseforum.com/index.php?showtopic=15678
