I am trying to find out the dimensions for the choke rod from the lever to the carb. I know there was a discussion on this site about weather it should be a cable or just the rod. I believe Jason(Lordhelmut) at the thime posted a picture of it. any help would be great.

I believe the original would use a cable but I made a direct link for mine like the pic you are talking about. I just put the lever and carb into their choke positions and measured the length hole to hole (held a piece of wire in place and pinched it), took the piece of wire and made the Z bends at that measurement.

sounds like a good idea john. I think it would look alot better w/o the cables hanging down. but i guess it could be a short cable. I dont know. i'll get it figures out when i get the motor put together.

I know mine is wrong and it has a cable. but works backwards form the way it should, so I would like to know also what is correct for a 60 400 suburban

Anyone have a NOS 400 Suburban? I think the rod looks better. I hate seeing cables and wires and things like that. But I would like it to be as close to origional as I can get it.
