What color paint is WH Red

1st Pony,604 and I want it done right, BUT paint ain't cheap. What is true Wheel Horse red ? Did the shades of red ever change throughout the model years ? Anyone who can educate me on this, I would be much abliged. Thanks Mike

this can be a long thread, but in short IH red is what most people use, if your rattle canning it, rust Oleum, regal red or sun rise red.

There is no "true" color red when it comes to restorations. As Kelly said, many choose IH Red, but there are many variations in IH Red between manufacturers.

I think that the correct color will always be what pleases you.

Take two or more NOS parts and have the colors scanned. They will more times than not be different from each other. Try matching a NOS part to an area under a decal. It will not be the same. Too many variables. As many have said before, find a color that you like and go with it.

I have used ford engine/tractor red from valspar. I just like that red. to me its not as dark as the IH red even though I'm a big farmall fan I still went with the ford colors.

Like alot of people say on here its all in what color red you like.

IH red seems to be the favorite so I bought mine today at tractor supply. It was $12.99 a quart and the rattle cans were $5.49.

Be sure to use hardener with it or you will be waiting days if not weeks for it to dry. For your safety, please read all the precautions listed on the hardener and use proper protection.

:thumbs: Thanks. This is just the beging of the project. Parts are in real bad shape. The Vocational school is actualy doing the work I just have to supply them materials. I will post plenty of pics showing progress when it gets underway.
