jb4249 131 #1 Posted February 26, 2011 What lubricant goes into the transmission on my 854? I am guessing 90 weight gear lube, but just checking. Do any or you guys worry about the newer oils? I have an old British car and use 90 weight GL-4. New oil GL-5 causes problems with yellow metal bushings. Just fishing here Thanks, Ted
buckrancher 2,694 #2 Posted February 26, 2011 2 quarts 90wt or 140wt gear oil gl-5 is ok as 854 trans is needle and ball bearing with two bronze bushings on the cluster gear if your useing it in the winter 140wt might be a little heavy but good in the summer for plowing a garden 90wt is a good general porpose year round oil Brian
jb4249 131 #3 Posted February 26, 2011 Thanks Brian. I am flushing thr transmission now. I drained it the first time it looked like chocolate, and about as thick. I am flushing with kerosene. I did the engine the same way. Just to get as much old crud out as I could. Thansk Ted
