rydogg 186 #1 Posted February 24, 2011 Just picked up this 604 with a home made grader that looks like it will do a nice job of keeping the driveway level I realized during our first winter melt that I am gonna need some more gravel poured in the spring. The grader is well built I may drill a couple more holes so I can angle it also it has a very low hour short block replacement tecumseh how do you tell what the hp is without taking them apart? Kelly 1,030 #8 Posted February 25, 2011 Not a bad looking tractor, is there a metal tag on the blower housing? if so it will have numbers stamped in it, like H60 or H70 if it's a iron block not alum. it will have HH60 or HH70 the extra H stands for heavy duty, one H mean horizontal shaft. And the belt guard is a transplant, it's for sure not a 603.
tommy3horse 3 #9 Posted February 25, 2011 Ryan; Nice snag on the tractor! I really like the blade, looks H.D. Good luck with the driveway, Tom
squonk 42,554 #10 Posted February 25, 2011 I just picked up a mid grader made by somebody other than Heavy sun of a gun. Painted orange and has the 3 holes to put the pin in to angle it. Started drawing up a mount tonight. Going to make so it will work on my 704 and C-
rydogg 186 #11 Posted February 25, 2011 Kelly, according to the previous owner there is no tag on the blower housing since this is a short block replacement it has a metal tag on the motor block that says SBH (short block horizontal) and has some other numbers. I drained the gas and got some new stuff in it pulled a couple times adjusted the carb and pulled a couple more and it fired up...I only ran it long enough to get the oil mixed up and hot so I could do an oil change but after I get that and the gear case oil changed it should be ready to go.
