trettig 0 #1 Posted February 23, 2011 What is the best way to get bearings out of side plates on the RJ58 transmission. I hear they are tough to remove. Tom
DMK855 15 #2 Posted February 24, 2011 Tom. On the ones that I have done, I welded a nut to the bearing and used a bolt to push them out. I don't know that it is the "correct" way, but it sure made them easy!!
trettig 0 #3 Posted February 24, 2011 wow, that is a good idea. I am just a home tinkerer with no welder. I think I will resort to banging it with a hammer, destroying the whole transmission, busting a digit, and eventually giving up on the project. UNLESS anyone else has any other suggestions on bearing removal? Please Tom
B-8074 19 #4 Posted February 24, 2011 Maybe you could take it to a machine shop. I wouldn't think it would cost that much.

ricksrj58 273 #7 Posted February 24, 2011 i had a tool made that fits snug into the bearing and then i gently tap or wiggle it side to side, works great. i also had tools made to remove and replace the bushings.
