TT

They are the model numbers of the Sundstrand hydro units.

The transaxle cases and internals are made by Wheel Horse and the part numbers can be found at the Toro MPV, PartsTree, etc.

The cases for the 12 auto have different part numbers than the one or two D series cases I looked up.

Some of the 1974 & newer C series cases showed the same part numbers as D cases though.

1973 was the year that the gear motor was replaced by the piston-to-piston motor on the hydro. That's why there are two different Sundstrand models listed.

Ok thanks TT. I have one for the 12 that has been striped down and someone was looking for a side case for a "D". That saves him a trip here. I hate to junk this but I hate it in being in the way also.

That sucks!

Thanks for your help!

does anyone need or want any parts off this? No pump or strainer and one bad axle.

I believe the cases differ mainly in that the "D" series used larger bearings at the differential end caps. I'm not sure if the ID of those bearings are the same as the regular end caps or not.

It may be possible to use the cases from a D on the 12 Auto (if the diff end caps are in fact the same diameter), but I would not try to use them the other way around.
