Confused99 2 #1 Posted May 8, 2008 I have located a 633. I am unsure of the year but think this was a 1 production year tractor?? I would like to find one of this vintage to restore. What can you tell me about it? Seems to be complete. Here are some pics. Thanks, Jason
CasualObserver 3,410 #2 Posted May 8, 2008 Jason, I saw that listing on CL this afternoon, and if I hadn't just bought the 603, I'd already be after it. It's a great deal... if you can... ****** it up! Yes, it's a single year production. (all Wheel Horses up to 1968 were) and the 633 is a 1963 model. It was a recoil start 6HP tractor. Stephen (tickster) has a nice one, maybe he'll chime in with a picture or more info for you!
Rollerman 290 #3 Posted May 8, 2008 Jason/Jason that looks like a nice straight tractor....but either it's another model with a 633 belt guard...or the PO maybe decided pull starting wasn't the way to go. Either way...I'd ****** it up because it looks good.
Confused99 2 #4 Posted May 8, 2008 I figured you saw that Jason. It's probably closer to you then me. I am thinking about it. I told the guy I would let him know in the next day or 2. Jason
DMESS 24 #5 Posted May 8, 2008 See, your getting addicted already! Pretty soonyou won't know where to put them! Looks like a good find, but it should be recoil start. If you go look at her check and see if it is a K-141T Kohler and if it has the unusual Tiloson updraft carb setup. Toolbox is most likely gone as well if they added electric start. BPjunk 184 #6 Posted May 10, 2008 The 633 is a interesting Wheel Horse model and will be the next one research will be done on. Too bad the pictures are too dark to see well as to what the tractor is equipt with. I have encountered two versions of the model 633, the first version having a up draft Tillotsen carburetor with a cast Fairbanks Morse recoil while the second version 633 used a side draft carburetor and cast Kohler recoil. The big problem with the up draft carburetor was the amount of weight being supported by the intake manifold and having this weight being bounced around on the frot of a tractor offten caused the intake manifold to break. The intake cracking may be the reason why a change to the side draft occured. Now the 1960 and 1961 Suburban series 550/551 also used the same side draft carburetor but with the engine being in the center the bouncing of the carburetor was not so hard ..... sorta' like being in the middle of a boat as to not feel the waves so bad. Jim_M 178 #7 Posted May 10, 2008 My 633 has the side draft carb and Kohler recoil. I always wondered if it was original or added later by a previous owner.
Confused99 2 #8 Posted May 10, 2008 I am still deciding if I want to pull the trigger on this one. The problem with it is it is alittle ways away so I hate to drive just to come home empty handed. Jason

Yep, I waited too long this week. Saw something Wednesday, called last night, it was sold Friday

Confused99 2 #16 Posted May 12, 2008 Well, a trip to Home Depot yesterday with my wife took care of most of my "fun money". Although, the new grill is very nice compared to the old rusted crapper I had. I will have to start piling it away again. Jason
