wh79d160 52 #1 Posted January 12, 2011 After cleaning some drifts out of the drive way w/the 417-8, I didn't feel like going in the house. So I decided to change the 90wt in the 8-speed sense it was warmed up. Drained it out, took the 45 degree plug out,(just like the 702) Filled it up until it was level w/the side plug & it took a qt. (just like the 702) Drove it around in the shop for a while. Checked the dipstick level (not like the 702) & there is nothing showing on the dipstick. Do you not use the side plug? Fill it thru the d-stick tube? What's the deal? :banghead:

Sparky-(Admin) 21,405 #3 Posted January 12, 2011 I think its almost 2 quarts and I fill mine thru the dipstick tube. Its a slow process but I'm never in a rush when I do a tranny fluid swap so its no big deal. Mike......
wh79d160 52 #4 Posted January 12, 2011 Thanks guys. Why does it have the 45 degree plug in the side towards the bottom & did I underfill my 702 as well?
btrrg1969 11 #5 Posted January 12, 2011 The manual says 2 qts and when it is full the dip stick will agree , I dont know why that plug is so low , however if you got a gt or more in it I'm sure it didnt hurt anything
