GlenPettit 1,716 #1 Posted December 28, 2010 (edited) KNOBS: (Choke & Throttle) Wheel Horses . . . . . . . Scroll Down: 5 more posts below this #1 -- "Triangle" early 60's -- $5 each #2 -- 1963--1968 -- $5 each (the Ivory was only used in '63, then black thru '68) (also used by JD & other brands; available in any color, same price). #3 -- 1969--present -- $5 (still used as hood latch, and on most other brands garden tractors, the 7 groves are all same length) #4 -- 1968--present -- $15/pair (pair is held on the lever with a SS bolt & nut, included) #5 -- late 60's--'83 -- $5 (Hood Latch knob, but is often used in place of other knobs) #6 -- 70's thru '80's -- $10 @ (for a Choke or a Throttle Knob, $20/pair) These letters are cast into the knob a full .050" deep and will not wear off, inlaid with 4-layers of white paint, a lot of extra manufacturing work. (the original knobs were hot-stamp printed on the surface, which is why the letters easily wore off during use). For just one knob, either a Choke or a Throttle Knob, $12, plus shipping.** With all knobs, inserts & plastic parts, it is a good idea to add a drop or two of Rubber Cement (tire/tube), because all plastic expands & contracts in hot & cold weather, the plastic & holder loosens, the knob falls off and is often lost. Rubber cement will hold them on snugly, but if pulled slowly for a minute or two, it will yield without any damage. Use "Meguiar's Plastic Protectant" to restore the oils and original shine that all Plastic looses over time, this works to restore any plastic or rubber part on your Wheel Horses, do yearly. (To remove knobs like these; use the claws of a claw hammer with a wood block for leverage, while holding the stem or lever with vice-grips). Prefer personal check or m.o. over PayPal (or just add their 5% service fee): Orders may be combined to save, contact me for multiple items & shipping costs (most knobs ship for about $3.50, first class postage; if over $25, I'll usually pay postage for most items). - GlenPettit@WheelHorseForum.com . . for PayPal transfers, use: GlenPettit@WheelHorseForum.com Glen Pettit * 1541 N. GlenPettit 1,716 #2 Posted February 19, 2011 (edited) STEERING WHEEL INSERTS These are a perfect match for the originals in size, shape and fit. These are our full color non-fadei decals (not the originals) and they are encased in doming UV plastic to eliminate damage. Each of them are available without the logo, as a plain insert (also many other brand garden tractors used the same steering wheels and exact same inserts). Style #2 used a silver & black decal, available from us, $2. With the domed decals, $15, or 2/$25. Plain inserts, with no decal, $10. Shipping is usually about $3. Style #3 is also available in clear, for the Elec-Trac Wheel Horse tractors made by GE & WH. Also, seven other brands of tractors used this exact same style #3 black steering wheel insert on their tractors in the 60's (Jacobson Chief, Ford 80, M-M T&C, Ariens, Bolens, TruTest & White). ** With all knobs & inserts, it is a good idea to add a drop or two of Rubber Cement (tire/tube), because all plastic expands & contracts in hot & cold weather, the plastic loosens, falls out and is often lost. Rubber cement will hold them on snugly, but if pulled slowly for a minute or two, it will yield without any damage. Use "Meguiar's Plastic Protectant" to restore the oils and shine that all Plastic looses over time, works on any plastic or rubber part on your Wheel Horse. $10 each, plus $3.50 shipping. GlenPettit 1,716 #4 Posted December 4, 2011 (edited) GT-14 Steering Wheel INSERT This larger cap insert will will replace the original 21/2"OD Insert that has been lost from the majority of GT-14 Steering Wheels. This new larger 33/8"OD cup shape fits entirely over the center raised area of where the original snap-in Insert was, and the cupped edges fit down over the sides, completely covering it. It will fit all three styles (both 2 and 3 spoke) of GT-14 Steering Wheels; the flexing of the rim in temperature swings caused the centers to pull out, enlarging the opening which released the original inserts, giving the center an oval or triangle shape from the spokes pulling. Our new insert cap/cup will still allow for this normal rim flex, plus, this insert will still fit over your deformed center. The center has an identical original insert cast into it and it is protected with a hardened dome clear epoxy coating. The cap is screwed into a U-shape bracket which is held in by the original 3/8" steering wheel bolt. Included: is the Black cap with insert, two #6 U-clips, two #6 SS Screws, 3/8" Washer and the pre-bent Aluminum U-bracket. Cost is $20@, plus $3.50 First Class Shipping. GlenPettit 1,716 #5 Posted December 6, 2011 (edited) Large KNOBS (Gear shift -- Hi-Low)(1) 11/4" Round Knob, 3/8-16 Brass Insert (2) 13/4" Round Knob, 3/8-16 Brass InsertThese two above knobs are $8 @ (plus $3.00 shipping for 1 or 2, these knobs are very heavy and bulky) (3) 17/8" Flat-top Knob, 3/8-16 Brass Insert, (the pair of decals are included, as shown)These knobs are $10 @ or two for $15 (plus $4.50 shipping for 1 or 2, these knobs are very heavy and bulky)Just the pair of decals only; $2 + 50 cents, (first class flat envelope postage).. . . . . . . . The Brass Inserts are cast into the knob securely, these are an exact match to the originals ( cautious; all plastic threaded = weak threads = short life ). . . . . . . . . Apply the decals after the knob is securely tight in place, and before using a restorer ( so the decals are in a 'readable' position and decals may not. . . . . . . adhere to the knob if recently restored with oils ). Suggestion: use "blue thread lock" or Rubber Cement on the brass threads, also use Meguiar's Plastic Restorer to revive and maintain the nice shine on all plastic (including; steering wheel, seat and all knobs). Our knobs are 'fresh', but is still best to install on a warm day; . . . but, 30-40 year old knobs tend to be very brittle, soak them in Restorer a few days and then install when very very warm, 100ºF plus. A couple of drops of Rubber Cement will hold threaded knobs on securely, but still can be removed a few years later if pulled & turned very slowly.
