1972 commando 800 rebuild

HI, I KNOW I HAVE SOME PROJECTS STARTED AND NOT FINISHED. I KNOW ITS BAD. DOES ANY ONE ELSE DO THIS? I HOPE IM NOT ALONE. ANYWAY IM REDOING THE COMMANDO 800. I KNOW THIS A CHEAP AND TO SOME, AN UNDESIRABLE TRACTOR. BUT I LIKE IT, AND ITS THE ONE THAT DOES THE MOST WORK AROUND HERE. IT SMOKES PRETTY BAD, AND NEEDS SOME WORK, SO ITS GETTIN IT. PAINT, ENGINE REBUILD, CABLES, AND TWO NEW, WELL BETTER FRONT TIRES. HERE ARE SOME PICS. WILL UPLOAD PICS DURING PROGRESS.. JIMMY IN N.C.

Looks great! IMO, any of them are worth restoring/ fixing up.... especially the Kohler powered models. :ychain:

I don't think undesirable is it I think most people realize there not a v shaft. Yes they maybe entry level back in there day but they have the 4seed good transmissions in them and a Kohler.

Good start looks good!

I like it, that is not a vert shaft so it is a better model, now I have to know what is that sticking off the muffler in the first pictures???

I think it is a compression tester of some sort. Obviously meant to capture the exhaust. :ychain:

painted the chassis today. sheet metal will take another priming and blocking. hood had some pitting. you cant beat todays high build primers. will post pics after sheet metal painted. ordered decals from terry. we found a box of muffler covers while cleaning the house a few weeks ago. muffler covers are the only use i have for them. they wont fit over a steering wheel, i tried :ychain: . jimmy
