Stigian 1,234 #1 Posted December 19, 2010 My Saxon trailer has taken a lot of abuse over the years and coped with it very well... But after it getting very heavy use for two house moves the strain of it all had taken it's toll and left the trailer with a new slant on life.... With a load of logs turning up any day some repair action was needed if the trailer sides were ever going to fit on again!! The sides fitted on the middle and rear hinges.. But the fronts were not even close to slotting on With no way of bending the trailer bed straight, the grinder came out to slice a little wedge out of each side of the angle iron. A couple of large bits of wood and some G-clamps had the bed straight. I forgot to take a photo of the clamping, so have a blurred photo of the trailer being welded back up.. For the first time in at least eight months the trailer sides fitted again To stop the trailer from bending again we decided to add a couple of lengths of heavy angle to strengthen things. Here's Garry working out how one side goes on. And bolting the wheel back on after the welding had been done. The almost finished trailer, all it needs now is a good de-rust and a repaint, but that will have to wait until the summer..
