How much will a manual sleeve hitch lift?

I have a 414-8 with no hydraulics.

I have a chance to buy a 8hp rototiller, that has a sleeve hitch.

Just wondering if the manual lift on my WH will lift the tiller, with the 8hp motor on it.

I will have to fab the rock shaft, and could play with the arm lengths on the shaft, to get more leverage. But less lift.

Any ideas?

The picture you show has a 3pt hitch.

The Brinly box graders are probably as heavy as that tiller. As long as you don't mind one Popeye arm and one normal arm I would not worry about the weight.

Since you have to make it anyway, make it for a slot hitch if that is what your horse has already.

I think what I would do is make a hitch with a hinge in the middle, so that it rocks the tiller back onto its wheels for transport. That way you are lifting nearly no weight.

Just an idea I dreamt up thinking about making a tow behind tiller.

WH of course. I like the idea of a hinge, and lifting it onto the rear wheels, for transport.

I've got a tine, dethatcher, that I sometimes, set the height with the rear wheels, so the tines just pick up pine needles. A hinge with work with that also.

Post some pics if you do it. The hinge idea is just a thought, so I'll be interested if it works in theory!

I have often though a tiller like this is far more likely to fit my budget that a Wheel Horse tiller.

And no surprise I did not invent it - I had no idea where the idea came from, now I know - all I know is it was just in my head!

Actually that is a sleeve hitch hanging off the front of the tiller.

Just set up for a differant make.

The pin looks to be right at the front of the tiller.

So you won't have a whole lot of weight hanging out.

If it seems to hard to yank up you can always try a helper spring or two.
