Improvised Tranny support Stand

Recommended Posts

Anglo Traction

Having had a foot of Snow here overnight, I decided to retire to the Garage and work on the 5091 from my wreck of a 74 Raider/C-120. My problem was how to support it without any strain on the Shafts and keep it stable ?.

After another Coffee, I realised that everything I needed was laying all around me. Rear Wheel, Hub and several pieces of wood!. ..

I bolted the Hub face down on the Outside of the Wheel using the Lugs from the Inside, then laid it down on the floor.

This allowed me to pass the Axle Shaft into the bolted Hub so that the Axle Shafts were vertical and not resting on the floor .

I then packed out between the Tranny Case and the Wheel Rim, then rotated the Axle to ensure it was not straining in the Hub and can be lifted out and back in easily. Input Shaft is clear of the Rim.

If it helps anyone, then it was worth posting it. Sorry about image quality.
