Zaemo 0 #1 Posted November 6, 2010 Anyone know anything about the Kohler Aluminum K-12 -2? I'm wondering what HP it is. Trying to find out from the seller if it will fit into my Suburban. Thanks, Chad
TT-(Moderator) 1,147 #2 Posted November 6, 2010 This is what I found by doing an internet search: Manufactured from 1949 to 1951 Strongly resembles Briggs & Stratton and Clinton engines of the same era. I am guessing the "12" represents displacement (in cubic inches) which would possibly put it somewhere in the 3 to 4 horsepower range. I'm fairly certain that this is a picture of either a 7-2 or a 12-2 (only difference was internal): Courtesy of the Kohler website. ^^^^ I don't think you'll have a problem with it fitting your tractor, but you better be sure that it runs & runs well before you buy it. I doubt you'll be finding too many parts for it if it breaks.
Zaemo 0 #3 Posted November 7, 2010 Thanks, that's way more than I found by quickly searching with Google. I would have to assume that the internals would be the same for engines of the same era, just that the case is aluminum, no? I was hoping it would be 4 or 5 HP.
