Torino 14 #1 Posted October 5, 2010 My hydro is jerky could it be a loose belt? The belt seems pretty loose but I have nothing to compare it to. How do you check the belt?
WheelHorse_of_course 99 #2 Posted October 5, 2010 Sorry to say they tend to be loose, so that is not your problem, methinks.\ You might take a look and see if it is glazed. While you are at it make sure the idler is in good shape - if not it should be replaced, though it is probably not the cause of your problem. IIRC you are picking this up from your previous thread, is that right? If so, the problems you describe sound much more like transaxle than hydro. Best of luck :)
Torino 14 #3 Posted October 7, 2010 Yes, same problem as in other post. Was hoping might be as simple as a belt. What are the signs of a worn belt?
Torino 14 #4 Posted October 15, 2010 Took cover off to check the belt and notice that the idler pulley is frozen so I need another. Here is a vid, clink on belt below. Should I go ahead and replace it? Also a couple of pics where the belt rubbed against the battery. http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u218/torino001/SUNP0020.jpg]belt http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u218/torino001/SUNP0020.jpg]belt
B-8074 19 #5 Posted October 15, 2010 It should'nt be that easy to move the spring when the tensioner is engaged. Also I would replace the belt, it looks like it is glazed from slipping. Good luck with it, should be an easy fix.

Good luck with it, should be an easy fix. I would buy a belt at this time. Not sure if I'd replace it and keep the old as a spare, or just have w new one on hand ready to go. I have seen them work with a frozen idler before, though I don't know why they work! The engage/disengage function works much better with a working idler though. I hope this fixes your jerking....
