nick160 0 #1 Posted September 21, 2010 I have a 1980 D-160 and I pulled out the hudrostatic pump to change the gasket because it was leaking. I put it together wrong the first time and when I put it back together the second time no signs of damage were present. When it was all put back together nothing worked. No drive, no lift but the engine started. I have the A,B,C,D, service manual and the sundstrand service manual and according to the manual I did everything correctly. The only info i could find is that there was a wheel-amatic manual which i cannot locate anywhere. It said that there is a pump tune-up explained in that book.I have tried just about everything and i'm very desperate to get it working please could someone help me????? Trouty56 567 #2 Posted September 21, 2010 I opened mine up to replace the same gasket. I don't know how you did it but I placed the pump with the spline straight up. Then I pulled the casing off. There is a spindle with I don't know how many little pistons in it. The manual says they should remain where they are so don't mess with the pistons. Set that to the side. Then there is a collar that kind of fits a certain way. It guides the oil in and out of the pistons I think. If it is not placed properly the pump will not work. You can tell if it is in it's place. Once it is set in its groove place the piston assembly on top. Line it up and drop the casing on top. That is all I know. Good Luck and :)
