T-Mo-(Moderator) 4,507 #1 Posted September 28, 2007 If I ever get down to Arkansas I've already have a free 753 (see Free WH 753 ) Now I have a chance to trade for another one that has a snow blade, weights and bar tires. It's more local (75 miles) and I can get it by trading my '79 JD 210. Here are a couple of pictures of this 753: I'm not sure if I want to trade as my JD 210 runs and cuts real good, but this WH is supposed to run and drive good also. I'll probably give the guy a call and we can meet somewhere and I can hear this thing run maybe. Question, is that a front bumper that I see just behind the snow blade? nylyon-(Admin) 7,294 #2 Posted September 28, 2007 I don't know a lot about the 753 or the JD 210 for that matter, but it looks to me that the JD is a bigger better machine than the 753, unless of course you are Jonesing for a 753 it would be a good deal then. T-Mo-(Moderator) 4,507 #3 Posted September 28, 2007 Karl, You make some good points. The 210 is a bigger machine, I just don't really need it. I have two other JD's, a 1999 LT133 which is a good mowing machine, and I have a '06 JD X320 which can mow circles around all my tractors, including the WH's. Then I have the '98 WH 314-8 and the '79 WH C-141 which does need a good carb cleaning, and possibly rings or a rebuild. I was thinking about the WH 753 as it has a snow blade (which isn't a big thing here in Missouri, but can come in handy once and a while) and if I go get the free 753 I can take the two and make one good one. And you probably right, the 210 is probably a better machine right now, both cosmetically and I know it runs and drives good.
Rollerman 290 #4 Posted September 28, 2007 Treed I'd think your 210 " <_< gasp" is a more valuable tractor. If you look at the pics of that 753, yes that is a homeade front bumper...so is the plow. Thats not a (Wheelhorse) peice. Also look at the hood....it looks pretty bad. They can be expesnsive to replace or repair depending on how paticular you are about the apearance. Stephen JONES in northern IN....Karl what was that remark?
nylyon-(Admin) 7,294 #5 Posted September 28, 2007 Stephen, you have some of the nicest horses I've seen so jonesing is a perfectly fitting expression :D
Rollerman 290 #6 Posted September 28, 2007 I'm just messin with you Karl & thanks for comp. I know you didn't mean anything bad. Heck I'm "Jones'n" for a boat right now! Stephen in northern IN
T-Mo-(Moderator) 4,507 #7 Posted September 29, 2007 Thanks, guys. I actually came to the conclusion that I'll hold onto the JD before I started reading all the posts. I also noticed the hood was butchered on that 753 for the muffler. But, I didn't know the plow wasn't original. I was thinking of using pieces from the "freebie" 753 to use on this one, but the JD does look better and I know it runs real good. So I probably sell the JD 210 and maybe the wife will let me add some attachments for the 314-8.
Curmudgeon 28 #8 Posted September 29, 2007 So you're going to keep the one that's green with envy wishing it could be half the tractor the Wheel Horse is. Well, to each their own. Dale, in Michigan
T-Mo-(Moderator) 4,507 #9 Posted September 30, 2007 I imagine I'll sell it or trade it eventually. But, I'm not going to let it go for less - there be other Wheel Horses, I'm sure.
Curmudgeon 28 #10 Posted September 30, 2007 :D If there's one thing I've learned, it's there are always more tractors to be had... Of any color. Dale, in Michigan
T-Mo-(Moderator) 4,507 #11 Posted September 30, 2007 You got that right, so many tractors and so little time (or in most cases, so little money or space). :D
T-Mo-(Moderator) 4,507 #12 Posted October 2, 2007 Update: I've emailed the guy and told him "no deal". I'll either sell the JD or hold on to it until the right deal comes along.
