well in north carolina this past weekend my brother in law told be about a lawn mower parts/scrap yard that he had gone to before. though i never it made it there, he did a little while back and showed me a picture of an allis chalmers tractor that was there. below is the picture. just wondering if anyone has any info on this. were they good tractors? looks like it was either a 3 speed with a 9hp B&S or 6 speed with a 10hp B&S. compared to a round hood (854) how is it in size? not sure how much the guy wants for it but does anyone know what a fair price would be? it looks complete and in great condition. i see a mower deck and have no clue if it runs. i just think it looks really cool and if i can get it for the right price I'll have him pick it up for me and when i deliver him his 654 i could bring this one home.

any clue how prices go for these things? i would assume more than a early 60's round hood?

i might be the wrong guy to ask, i haven't pay much over $100 for each of mine. but payed $200 for my B-110.

i dont see any extra options on that one. but its hard to tell without looking under the seat pan. that one has been painted. its a standard 3 spd unless it has a shifter sticking out from under the right side seat pan going to a gear drive pulley. also make sure to check the center gear box for slop/side to side play.

they are great tractors, run forever, very strong/tough machines, and are A+ in cutting grass  .

if i was a average joe. and know what i know now, i wouldn't hesitate to pay $400 for a basic, good running/mowing old Allis tractor. when you bring it back to MI and dont want it, let me know :D .

Looks like a clean unit from the one pic you posted. In the northeast in running condition I would say it would go for in the $350-400 range easy.

I sold this one on ebay for just under $200. Its a B210 Hydraulic lift but the lift was removed by the previous owner. I used it until the bevel gear box went out, it mowed great but they have an complex drive-line (transmission) setup in my opinion....they use a driveshaft setup like cub cadet which is connected to the bevel gear box then they have belts that run from the bgb to the rear end (transmission) mine was a vari-drive which ment it had a 3 speed transmission and 7 speeds of adjustment within each gear so 21speeds total but the b10 is a 3 speed only I believe. If you do get one make sure to check the fluid level in the bevel gear box and keep it full the local simplicity/allis shop quoted me a price of around $500 to repair/replace mine but you can find them on ebay sometimes for around a $100. Overall they are a well built machine (I am currently looking at a B1 to possibly fix up just haven't pulled the trigger yet) they are just not as simple and easy to work on as a  I have had 5 of them (712 shuttle x2, 716 hydro, 916 hydro and the b210) but sold them all and started to collect :D
