jdog_kustoms 82 #1 Posted August 3, 2010 my son had to have this tractor so we sold his suburban and bought him a 552 then my buddy and i got together and showed hima lot of pics and he liked the lowered front end and big rear tires this is what we have after 1/2 hours or teardown and 1/2 of build time the front spindles need heated and bent straight and the stering reworked and the hood needs replaced and im gone widen the tool box to make fenders fit tighter to wheels and sit seat lower between the fenders what rear tires look the best on it or any other ideas hope to have it all mocked up this week then get ready for paint stay tuned for his new toy and maybe a 16 hp kohler shoehorned in it lol

JUSS10 250 #6 Posted August 3, 2010 that looks sweet. i kind of like the front wheel bent in like that. i say keep it that way. and AG tires are always awesome. looks like a fun project
Coadster32 793 #7 Posted August 3, 2010 I prefer Ag rears and Tri-rib fronts myseslf. I like the jacked-up look. Should look real nice w/ strightened spindles. Big motor baby!! If not, make it look bigger than it is. Cool looking pipes are a plus! How about a hood scoop?? Keep us posted. This looks like a really neat project. bustedglass 1 #9 Posted August 3, 2010 Gotta have Ag tires in the back . I also like the look of the bent spindles in the front .
horsefeathers 15 #10 Posted August 4, 2010 Jdog, DO NOT!!!!bend them spindle's That is super cool!!!! Rib tires on front ,ags on rear!!!! A no brainer!!! Set the motor back like a ball burner! Bigger is always better Horse Power counts! And drop the hood another 2" Trust me! I know "Kustom" and ya' got it!!!!!! Hear me now!!! Take yer time, step back 'n look... THINK!!!! 'Cause if ya' screw this up I'am gonna' have ta' build one myself! And I ain't got time! You can do it!!! HORSEFEATHERS!
Coadster32 793 #11 Posted August 4, 2010 Just another thought for you. If you make an adapter plate where the frame bolts to the tranny, you can jack the back up even higher.
rickv1957 72 #12 Posted August 4, 2010 Looks like you have a great start there!,Rick
rmaynard 15,727 #13 Posted August 4, 2010 my son had to have this tractor... Your son had to have it, or is dad the one that has to have it?...hmmm Either way, great start to what's going to be a super tractor. bo dawg 516 #14 Posted August 5, 2010 I hate to be the odd ball but I like the turf tires better If its a hot rod you want then ags don't look right. I like ags don't get me wrong, but not for a rod look. I do agree on the bend spindles look, if it doesn't create any problems. It's a cool start
jdog_kustoms 82 #15 Posted August 6, 2010 i know i bent the spindles but it i did it before i read this and it also lowered it about 1.5 inches more i also just got a pair of 12X8 rims with 23 10.5 12 tires that i put on the back to see what it would look like cuase to me wider is better but they might come back off not shure yet let me know what you think i know alot of you like ags and 3 ribs but do they make 3 ribed for that small of wheel and i thought if i go ags and ribed front it look more like a puller then a hot rod here is some more pics not much else done to it
jdog_kustoms 82 #16 Posted August 6, 2010 anyone have a hood for sale i need one it looks horable with this cut up peice of #$%@
Coadster32 793 #17 Posted August 6, 2010 I think with a big @ss motor, and a new front hood support, it would look great the way it is. Although I like ag's and tri-ribbs, I get your point. How about a set of licks on the back? (Horsefeathers looks great). You could also do lawn ranger tires and rims up front. That would drop the front end a little more also. I like the spindles straighten out like you did.
Roger from southern Iowa 1 #18 Posted August 6, 2010 I really like the changes you've made!! I agree with coadster all the way.

Roger from southern Iowa 1 #20 Posted August 6, 2010 I would use what I have if I were building it. For me part of the fun of building a toy is keeping the cost down and the fun factor up.

horsefeathers 15 #25 Posted December 6, 2010 I also have a cub 14hp you can make a mount bracket to fit a Horse'. The engine will sit about 1 3/4" higher than a flat pan Kohler. But my tractor buddy said the cub runs in the opposet direction than a Horse? Is that true, anyone know?
