Mike,

I would get some of that tire paint from Millers for $20 and paint the wheels too. You will love the stuff! Looking very nice so far.

Mike,

I agree with Steve. You won't find a better product for making the tires look brand new.

Turns tires like these:

Steve and Mike. I split the tire paint topic out cause I would love to hear more about it. How is it applied? Whats the cost? Does it make dry-cracks go away(I might use it on my face if it does  ) ?

Mike.........

I've also used the Miller tire paint. I have brushed it on and and I've put it on with a rag, looks great. Wear rubber gloves.

Here is a picture before Miller paint and after. The paint has been on for about 3 months and it hasn't worn off, and this RJ gets many miles put on it. I only put one coat on because I didn't want the tires to look to new. For the 20 bucks plus shipping you have nothing too lose.

We use that stuff at work on show cars, both on the tires and on the radiator hoses.

I would think if its good enough to go to Pebble Beach, its probably good enough for our old tractors!

I've been a skeptic on tire paint, but I might have to try some I have a few very nice tires with minor checking but the black is turning gray, I can clean them but they fade back gray.

I've used the Miller's Tire paint with great results. I've found that two coats is best with the first coat 50-50 with water and the second coat straight-up un-cut. And I have found that a foam brush works best.

i got some of this paint a while ago and have been wanting to try it. i used it on the tires i got from kelly at mentone and i must say even after one application i am really impressed. kelly if you are reading this, you will remember how these tires looked. its not gonna get rid of any cuts or deep cracking with one coat, but it has softened the rubber and its already given the rubber that new feeling. these tires , aside from some cuts on the outside tread area were fairly good but with some weathering and they also had that old dried out look. now they look a whole lot better. definitely recommend millers tire paint. a little goes a long way too.

unless you have hundreds of tires to do, i would just settle for the quart. it will do many tires. yesterday i mixed up 2 oz of paint with 2 oz of water (50/50 mix as recommended) painted one tire and i cant really tell if i used any at all, its nearly all in the jar still. it goes along way. also use a jar with a screw cap and it will last longer.

tire on the left has one coat and the right has two. rubber feels smooth and softer. the deeper cracks are still there but there 100% better looking than they were. at least they wont look out of place now with new fronts. i think two coats mixed at 50/50 is plenty for these. i guess time will tell how they look after some use.
