My 656 getting a "cleanup"

Recommended Posts

Sparky

I say the 656 is gettin a cleanup as I'm not a bodywork guy, and I'm not a paintwork guy. I thought I had a picture of it before I started but I cant seem to find it but the hood and fender should give ya an idea of what it looked like before. I have a bunch of other interests as well as Wheel Horse's so the progress will be slow  as I can't dedicate every waking minute to it.

Heres a few shots so far. I will be looking for a new hood so if anyone has a straight 656 hood I might be interested. The fender pan will be usable with some TLC but the seat is shot.

Mike, it looks good. I don't know how you got all that primer in there without taking it down further. What's your secret?

No secrets here Jim.....its Valspar Primer applied with a BRUSH ! Its actually easier to work with than I thought and no paint went airborne which woulda got all over my motorcycle and worse yet, the wifes car  !! I do have some spray cans for certian areas where the brush just wont go.

Mike..........

PS....got your PM and am giving it some thought.

Sparky-

Looking good so far. I have used primer with a brush on the frame assembly and the final outcome was nice.

Mike, you call it a "clean up". At my house I call what you are doing a restore. Good work.

The red is from a rattle can Mike. Krylon Cherry Red to be exact. Now that the first coat is on it seems a bit dark.

Had some time to deal with the fender today. Heres where I'm at so far with the fender and wheels back on. The fender has some serious pitting which will hopefully be mostly hid with a new seat. This tractor is gonna be a 30 footer fer sure  .
