Iggy68 28 #1 Posted June 30, 2010 My laptop took a crap on me and I lost my manuel for my 953 tranny. Does anyone know what yahoo group that is in? Another question, when you press on the brake pedal does that stop the drive belt pulley internally in the tranny? Thanks,
Buzz 502 #2 Posted June 30, 2010 You can download one from Toro. Go here: https://lookup3.toro.com/request/request.cfm Put 953 for model and "none" for serial number.
TT-(Moderator) 1,145 #3 Posted June 30, 2010 Another question, when you press on the brake pedal does that stop the drive belt pulley internally in the tranny? Only if the transmission is in (any) gear.
Buzz 502 #4 Posted June 30, 2010 In answer to your question. No. When you press the brake/clutch pedal it takes the tension off the drive belt and the belt stops turning the pulley on the transmission so you can shift it. Your belt guard needs to be on. Iggy68 28 #5 Posted June 30, 2010 Thanks guys that makes more sense to me now. I was afraid I broke something inside the tranny.
Iggy68 28 #6 Posted October 3, 2010 I finally had time to get back to this. I had to put a new brake band on. The tractor wouldn't stop. I have brakes now. The problem is when you depress the brake pedal it is not disengaging the tranny. Everything is adjusted right meaning there isn't any tension on the drive belt when the clutch pedal is depressed. Looking at the schematics of the transmission it looks like there is a gear from the brake gears that ties into the belt gears. Is there a rool pin that holds those gear on the shaft? Guess I am pulling the tranny out and apart to inspect for something wrong. :)
Iggy68 28 #7 Posted October 3, 2010 Stupid me! Wrong belt size! Everything works fine now.
JimD 3,345 #8 Posted October 3, 2010 Iggy, I'm sure glad you figured it out before you did all that work. Sometime it's the simple things that frustrate us. Nice catch. :)
