wheel horse bottom plow help

Recommended Posts

JUSS10

well i cleaned up my recently aquired bottom plow and played around with with tonight. i got a few questions. first thing is when i got it, the tongue was twisted so the plow sat at a lean, it looked like it got bent while hitting something so i figured it wasn't supposed to be that way. i cut it off and made a new one so the plow sits level. was i suppose to do that? next is i am working on turning a field that is quite over grown with weeds and sod. some places it would dig really deep so i changed the angle of the blade tip up so it wouldn't suck in so far, but when i would hit some of the harder stuff it wouldn't dig at all. i found some brinley manuals but wanted to know if there was anything special about the wheel horse plow and how to run it. here is the plow

Nope... shouldn't have cut it. The tongue should sit at an angle, came that way from the factory, because your tractor should be sitting at the opposite angle when you have wheels dropped in the furrow, and then the plow sits level while it's cutting.

Nothing else special about setting them up. They were mostly made by Brinly, and some by Ohio Steel, but the basics are all the same.
