C-Series14 15 #1 Posted June 11, 2010 I know I am not as experienced as some but just wanted to brag on myself a little and prove again, these tractors are fun and easy to work on! I had the shifter retaining bolt break off in my 1979 C-161 8-Speed's tranny. Couldn't get it out as it sat so decided to pull the tranny. At around 7pm, I started with the fender off, set the tractor's rear footrest support on jackstands, and disconnected the needed items, pulled the fender support, removed the tranny bolts, and backed the rearend away from the tractor. Removed the broken bolt, installed a new one...after I replaced the shifter with a spare because the roll pin was broke in the original, then reinstalled everything and drove the tractor 53 minutes later.
