Operator 7 #1 Posted June 6, 2010 A few years ago I had to put in Invisible Fencing wire on my property. At around 1800 feet here I came up with this, made for a "one time" use. But so far have done about 7 yards. It will run up to 14 ga. wire the max for Invisible Fencing. I bury it down about three inches deep. I welded a steel brake line on the back of the "knife" for the wire to feed through. I carry a sawzall to cut through bigger roots that put up a fight. I'm thinking of rebuiding it and adding a coulter to it to "cut" sod instead of "ripping" through it. Just did 389 feet today so I had it mounted up and thought, pictures! Duff 206 #7 Posted June 7, 2010 Patent that puppy! There're a slew of folks who install that stuff commercially and I'd bet they'd love to have an implement to attach to the back of a garden tractor or ATV for the purpose. Nice design! Duff :D
Sarge 3,462 #8 Posted June 9, 2010 If you want any ideas of how to build a very good cutting knife plow, check out the Ditch Witch 250 series. I've buried well over 1,000 miles of cable with one of those... Sarge

Sarge 3,462 #10 Posted June 10, 2010 The engineering company I once worked for had custom blades built for doing CATV drops, max depth was 18" . The blades were only about 3/4" thick and you could literally plow cable in road gear with them and not hardly leave a mark. I owned the company record for quite awhile with over 50 services plowed in one day. I'd lean towards a rear tiller belt drive with a rubber mounted arm and an eccentric weight mounted above the blade in heavy duty pillow block bearings. Should do well in most ground....
