Rust-oleum High Heat Ultra

Recommended Posts

Has anyone ever painted all the black on your WH with Rust-oleum high heat ultra? It's a simi gloss sheen paint for hot things like engines. I was just wondering if there is a reason not to use it on the rest of the black parts.

I don't see what it would hurt, at least you wouldn't have 3 different cans of black laying around.

That paint is for mufflers and exhaust manifolds. It requires high heat to properly cure. Unless you are going to stick all of your parts in the oven to cure the paint, i wouldn't recommend using it. Plus the paint cures out to more of a flat black, than the semi gloss you are used to seeing.

I would have to second Buckeye on this one. High heat paint kinda stays "gooey" for some time when its not baked onto a muffler or manifold. It also goes pretty flat when it finally drys. Even the semi-gloss tends to go very flat in a month or two. I believe if it were me, i'd keep the high heat paint for the exhaust componets, and use something a bit better for the black on my tins.
