JimD 3,345 #1 Posted June 3, 2010 Special thanks to Sorekiwi for sending me a link to a barn sale near me with a Wheelhorse in the ad. Thanks Mike. Its a 1968 Commando 8. The owner, Norman Webb, told me his Father bought it new and it had been used by his Father, then by him until a few years ago. It was running when he parked it in the barn. We had a nice talk about him starting to use it when he was about 10 years old, and continued till he parked it. It has been well used but cared for very well, and always stored inside. I brought it home, did a little rinse job on it, and took a few pics.... There was a little something that came with this Horse.... In the last pic you can see the earpiece to listen to the radio built into the sunglasses. It was a promotional item at the time from the dealer. JimD 3,345 #20 Posted June 6, 2010 The Commando Runs! I did the usual carb and fuel pump cleaning, then cleaned the gas tank and replaced the fuel line, put some gas in and away she went. Runs strong from what I can tell, I didn't run it long because of a gas leak between the pump and carb and I want to change the oil before I use it for anything. Now to get the choke and throttle cables and a few minor fixes I have another user. I don't think this one will get the refurb treatment, I kinda like it as is.
