hoppy 0 #1 Posted June 3, 2010 they should have bought a wheelhorse!!!! one of the farm tractors that one of the aunts had at her house. she dropped it down here so i could try and figure out why the belt keeps coming off the deck. well here is what i have found. one of the front deck chain mounts is broken. this is causing the pin to only be going through one bracket instead of the two and the pin naturally has dropped down and caused the deck to be uneven. could be why belt is popping. it needs to fixed regardless. so i figured i would remove the mount frame from the tractor so i could properly weld the broken side of the mount. easy enough right? a few bolts and shes out. wrong!!! if you ask me the jackass that built this tractor should have put the bolts in the opposite direction as there is no way to get them out the way they were installed. kinda screwed right??!! there are 4 bolts.......2 on each side and both sides are like this. cant get any of them out because they hit the main frame. id like to cut the heads off the bolts but cant think of the right tool for the job due to space issues. i honestly dont think i can cut the threaded part off enough to get the bolts to drop out between the frames. i know one thing is when i do get them out they are going in the other way so the nut is between the frames so if i have to remove it again i wont run into this crap. guys i need your help. how the hell am i going to get these out? anybody have any brilliant ideas? here is the frame im trying to remove.................................... Jim_M 178 #2 Posted June 3, 2010 I would just power wash the thing real good and weld it where it sits. Use a 1/8" 6011 rod, bend it if needed to get it in a tight spot. If you're nervous about it catching fire, have someone stand by with a fire extinguisher.
hoppy 0 #3 Posted June 3, 2010 that would be good if i had a welder here. my other option is to take the mount out and take it the shop where i work and there is a welder and do it right. maybe even beef it up a bit. see any good way to get those bolts out? Jim_M 178 #4 Posted June 3, 2010 Drill holes in the frame opposite the head of the bolt, big enough to put a socket through and back the bolts out through the holes. I doubt you need to do that though. I think there's something obvious that we can't see. Think about this for a second....they put them in at the factory....there's a way to get them back out. Clean it up real good and look it over again.

hoppy 0 #6 Posted June 7, 2010 jim.....the only porgess i have made is staring at it more while scratching my head. im not sure i want to start drilling holes into the main frame. im sure it probably wouldnt hurt but your talking two 9/16" hole or yet bigger to get that bolt out. i still need to get the power washer out and clean her up. maybe im missing something but i have looked at it enough to know had the blots been the other way around it would have been fixed and back in already. i got sidetracked with a few other projects this weekend. the ford grins at me every time i walk by it. :USA:

Don1977 604 #9 Posted June 8, 2010 You need to take it to some who has a torch, and save yourself a lot of aggravation.
hoppy 0 #10 Posted June 9, 2010 i never considered the torch method. you thinking heat them and bend the heads down almost to a 90 degree? that should give me the room i need to get them out. what do you think?
Jim_M 178 #11 Posted June 10, 2010 I think he meant for you to cut them with a torch and take them out in 2 pieces.
