chesbaycruiser 82 #1 Posted June 2, 2010 I searched but found no posts related to this issue, which probably means I'm doing something incorrectly. Can someone tell me if there's a trick to getting the deck-lift trunnion off? Is this another item in the Steering Wheel and Wheel Hub category of "ornery things to remove"? Gonna' bring out the map gas, but would appreciate any input! Thanks, CB
C-Series14 15 #2 Posted June 2, 2010 Oh boy....well, I can tell ya, out of the many I have done, I never had one NOT come off, eventually! Spray it with PB Blaster. Of course, there is a key inside there. Mine have all come off by hammering on the shaft end with a brass punch and letting the lift sector rest against the left side of the dash tower as I hit from the right thru the hole. I did all mine by myself but having someone help hold the lift arm makes it alot more enjoyable!
Kelly 1,029 #3 Posted June 3, 2010 I know it is hard to get in there but use sandpaper on the shaft first, to clean all the paint and rust off that will help alot after you get it moving, lots of PB blaster, and some heat, after it moves push it back, more PB and keep it moving back and forth it will come off, but they are not easy. Duff 206 #4 Posted June 3, 2010 I agree with the fellas - they do NOT come off very easily...but they will eventually come off! Directions above are about the best......... And when you do put it back on, apply a liberal dose of Neverseize! Duff :D

The wax will sweat in there and lube it up! And yes like the guys say soak w/Blaster first! Heat 'n wax, Then get out yer biggest BFH! HORSEFEATHERS!
