What would you pay for a refreshed C-81

Recommended Posts

psjoe

I found a "refreshed" C-81 at a small engine shop. It has had a tune-up, new seat, new wheels on the deck (36" in. I think), and fresh paint. Sill had the original decals. Has a good condition snow blower with it. It runs well. The front end seems tight. Trans shifts smoothly and all gears work w/o issue.

Asking price is $975

I have a nice C-81 that I just rebuilt the carb, new plug, fuel line, filter, air filter, head gasket, changed trans fluid, new drive belt, new PTO belt, very nice seat, good tires, paint is fair, runs great, has nice 36"RD deck could use blades, asking $450, and I have snowblades and blowers for a little more, but I'm in MI. so go from that if you want.

Wheel Horses seem to be cheap in PA. That is where I have seen the better deals. I think if you keep an eye on Craigslist you will find a better deal.

A shop is also going to charge more then a private sale. Are they offering any kind of warranty or anything?

Thanks all.

Wheel Horse Fan-

I have noted the CL horses. However my handicap is that I don't have a way to transport a tractor.

Rent a truck from Home Depot or Lowes. $19.95/hr

How would you get the C-85 home or would they bring it to you?

What Rick said. Look for a better deal.

$975 is not bad if you have it and they done all the work.

But there is probably a better deal for $500 and you do some of the work.

Thanks guys.

Rick too bad you are in MO.

I am going to keep looking. I took a chance and telephoned a guy who has several old Wheel Horses to see if he has any interest in selling one. He called back and said he would sell one. He has a B-80 and a C-160. I am planning to take a look at them today.
