Rollerman 290 #1 Posted May 31, 2010 Did some dealing with a friend of mine this weekend. He had something I wanted...I had something he wanted so a trade was in the works. The tractor was a non runner the day I went to get it, Bill had called the night before to let me know this. I wasn't to worried & figured it wouldn't take much to get it running. Long story short after bringing it hom Saturday afternoon I fussed with it all that day & part of Sunday morning. It started getting hot & I was all out of fresh cuss words so I went in for a nap. Later my son bursts through the door of the bedroom to tell me he "accidentally" started the tractor & didn't know how to shut it off....... <_< I thought he was pullin my leg...told him how to shut it off & proceeded to sleep more. (It was still sitting on the trailer bound down) I came outside later....Tay was playing in the backyard with a friend looking smug telling me how good it ran? Then a neighbor came up wanting to borrow some muscle, but agreed with Tay that it ran & sounded good.... After we helped our neighbor we went back to the tractor. Nothing but endless cranking without fire. (Okay I'm thinking Tay's a real smartass & the neighbors probably deaf anyway) As I was sleeping I was doing some wrenching in my mind over the pillow so to speak. I was thinking the resistor between the ignition & coil may have been bad. When I told Tay this we started to look at it....basically I was showing him what I thought it might be. Turns out the lead off the resistor running to the coil was loose & getting weak/bad contact. Snugged it up & the old Ford popped right off! Later that day we hauled it over to the inlaws who have 5 acres. I'll keep it out there for the FIL to use. My wife & I hope to build a house there some day too & may come in handy. I let Tay drive it most the afternoon. I needed to run the gas out anyway so I can make a repair to the fuel bowl/petcock & hopeing Tay will get bored with it & loose interest. They are great little tractors... we use ours for brush hogging, mowing and using a trip bucket to move things around... looking for a loader now for it... video I took yesterday... wish my international was as reliable as the 8n... still working through issues on it...
