bo dawg 516 #1 Posted May 31, 2010 Sorry I'm asking, but I cant find a recent post I read about this same problem someone else had. Which bolt is it that you tighten up to keep the travel lever to hold? It is so loose that it falls all the way forward quickly. I've pop so many unexpected wheelies that I'm afraid one time I will be on my back side and tractor with me ( I've fallen and can't get up) Happy holliday! and Thanks to all who served. rickv1957 72 #2 Posted May 31, 2010 Under console plate, loosen large nut and turn threaded shaft a bit to increase tension,Rick
bo dawg 516 #3 Posted May 31, 2010 Is that the big shaft / big nut that the lever runs down into?
TT-(Moderator) 1,131 #4 Posted May 31, 2010 Before you go messing with the friction adjustment, look on the left side (outside) of the "console" for a tab (held by a single bolt) that should be welded to the end of the direction control lever (DCL) pivot shaft. This style of DCL has a tendency to seize to the shaft which breaks the weld loose at the tab. Once the weld breaks, the pivot shaft will rotate with the DCL, and the friction parts will not function. There is also a small woodruff key that locks the friction cone to the pivot shaft. If this key shears, the cone will turn with the DCL assembly and friction will be lost. This might help:
bo dawg 516 #5 Posted June 2, 2010 Thanks TT, I will have to check for that. I remember looking at it and wondering if it was looking right. I'll try to take a pic of it and see what you think tomorrow.
bo dawg 516 #6 Posted June 2, 2010 Here pic's of the outside left side, not sure if this is how it is suppose to be or broke. One pic is with the lever all the way pulled back.
rickv1957 72 #7 Posted June 3, 2010 It is broken, needs rewelded,Rick
bo dawg 516 #8 Posted June 3, 2010 I wondered about that, thanks Rick. How is the best way to go about it? I wouldn't know for sure where to start. Can it be welded with out pulling?
rickv1957 72 #9 Posted June 3, 2010 I would realign,,clean up and V-out crack and weld without removing ,Rick
bo dawg 516 #10 Posted June 3, 2010 you wouldn't happen to have a picture of what its suppose to look like would you?
