rwilson 128 #1 Posted May 31, 2010 Yesterday My dad and I went to a guys house to look at a tractor. It turned out to be a 308-8. The guy said his brother could not get it to run. The tractor came with a 36 inch rear discharge deck and a 48 inch blade. Asked how much and he said 50 bucks. I couldnt tell him sold fast enough. We loaded it and headed for home. Got it unloaded and checked for spark. Good spark! Ok shot of starting fluid in the carb, fired and then died. Dad was on the othersideand said here is the fuel filter and it empty. I asked if there was a shutoff valve on the tank. Sure enough there was. Well it was closed. Opened the valve pulled the choke out and it fired right up. I bet if the guy new the gas was never on he would have kept it. We mowed with it today and it mows great. pics to come tomorrow.

bo dawg 516 #8 Posted May 31, 2010 That would leave me feeling bad for the seller. I may even have to tell him about it and see if he wanted to buy it back. Of course for a profit :D
wallfish 16,980 #9 Posted May 31, 2010 That's a steal for $50 Rich, give it to me and I won't turn you in. This is the exact reason they sell these PoS throw aways. People just don't want to take the time to fix anything and find it easier to just go buy a new one. I don't feel bad for the PO at all. If he took 20 min of his valuable time he could have solved the problem himself. Of coarse, if it was an old timer, disabled person or something like that, then I would certainly offer it back.
